Happy BIRTH day.

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you...
Happy BIRTHday to YOU!

Nearly 28 years ago my parents welcomed me into this world and as many births, it didn't go as "planned." After laboring for MANY hours, my birth ended in an emergency cesarean section. The end result, however, was a happy and healthy baby and new mother.
A birthday is a celebration of life. A day on which you were welcomed into this world.

From the second we are born until the day we leave this earth we celebrate or at least remember our birthday. Think though... how much of your actual birth day do you remember?

Our date of birth is our special day, but remember that it is also our parents special day too.
It was the day they welcomed their baby into the world, into their life, and we forever changed it.
A brief letter to my parents:

Thank you for choosing to bring me into this world. Growing a human is no easy task - its natural and beautiful and accompanied with discomforts.

Thank you for enduring pregnancy, labor, and postpartum pains. It doesn't matter how I was birthed or fed, just know that I was and that you did an AMAZING job!

Thank you for loosing sleep for me. Whether it was lost sleep 28 years ago or lost sleep 28 days ago, I appreciate you caring enough to make my life a priority.

And lastly THANK YOU for being my parents. Although the above thanks seems to be directed mainly to Mom, know that you too Dad were very much apart of the entire process. You were at moms side through it all and you have continued to show me the love of a parent just as much as mom has.

Love always,
          Samantha
On your next BIRTHDAY ask your parents what that special day was made of. Ask how you were welcomed into the world, and how their lives were forever changed. Celebrate another year of life, but also celebrate your birth mother (and parents) for enduring the pregnancy, labor, and postpartum pains, for all the sleepless nights, and most of all for choosing to bring you into this world.

Did you know that the month of March is my BIRTH month?!
In celebration I am holding a small contest that could land you a $50 Target gift card.
All you have to do is;
  1. Visit us on Facebook and like our page, Doula Mae.
  2. Find the pinned post and like it. (same graphic as the one below)

If you share the facebook post it could help us reach our goal by March 18th (my Birthday)!
