Doula | doo·la
The word doula is Greek, which simply means 'a woman who serves'.
The term doula is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to expectant families before, during, and after childbirth. A doula uses comforting touch, breathing, and relaxation techniques, as well as positioning to promote an optimal birth. Doulas offer support to expecting mothers and families by guiding them through the information aspects of pregnancy and beyond.
